At the end of last week I received the proofs from the printer. As I eagerly thumbed through the first magazine I pulled from the box, I realized in horror something was missing. In all of the back-and-forth communication with the printer and sending files (and updating and tweaking files), I didn’t realize until it was too late that I had accidentally sent a file with some missing text. Somehow, when exporting from InDesign, several header titles disappeared …

Since these were proofs, it was an easy fix. Everything is corrected and looking GREAT! The only downside is that this pushed us back in getting the magazines out to you. That said, we will ship all orders out in the first week of July. Thank you in advance for your patience.

As you can tell, photography plays a significant role in Trail Builder Mag. Since I enjoy taking photos of each magazine announcing the release, I grabbed my old Canon T3 (from 2011), dropped it in the handlebar bag of my gravel bike with the summer issue, and pedaled over to our local city bike park. The goal? Snap a few quick pics for this news article/press release. Nothing spectacular.

The timing also couldn’t be better, as today marks the first day of summer for those of us living north of the equator. It’s always odd thinking about that, as I recently saw photos of trail builders working in sub-zero temps who live in the southern hemisphere. Whether it’s summer or winter where you live, the good news is our magazine is here and ready to be read, reread, and shared.

I am grateful for all of the contributors in this issue. As I’ve mentioned before, I am constantly experimenting with the kinds of content covered in our magazine. The goal is to hit the spectrum from inspiritational all of the way to a bit nerdy and more technical. I feel like this issue hits it all. If you don’t mind, reach out to the contributors after you read their articles … follow them, DM them, and let them know what you liked.

Also, please be sure to support the companies that are advertising. While for many readers, an ad may be an ad, for me, it means companies are not only investing in helping us publish this magazine but are actively seeking to connect with our growing audience of trail builders from around the world. There’s a sense that we’re in this together. I’m also grateful for these ads since these companies are selling products that trail builders need and use.

Thank you again to everyone. I am humbled by your continual support for this magazine.
